2. The essentials first

This website is a static site without cookies and without tracking. Nothing runs in your browser that measures or recognises you: no analytics service, no tracking pixel, no advertising networks. All fonts and scripts are hosted on our own server; opening a page does not establish any connection to third parties. The map (OpenStreetMap) loads only after a click (section 6). To know how often the site is used, we evaluate only the server log files that arise anyway, reducing them to anonymous daily totals (section 4).

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Strato GmbH, Pascalstraße 10, 10587 Berlin, Germany. On every page view the web server automatically stores log files (IP address, browser identifier, time, page requested, referring page). These data are not merged with other sources and are deleted after 14 days. They are additionally used to compile anonymous access statistics (section 4). Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the technical provision and security of the service and in knowing how the site is used).

4. Access statistics (no tracking)

We do not use services such as Google Analytics, Matomo or Facebook Pixel, nor any comparable tracking service. Nothing runs in your browser for this purpose: no cookies, no tracking pixel, no measurement JavaScript, no identifier that recognises you across pages or visits.

To learn how often the site is used, we evaluate only the server log files (section 3). The result consists of pure daily totals — for instance “on this day these pages were viewed this many times”. This evaluation stores no IP address and no individual request; it contains no personal data. To tell whether two requests come from the same person, a truncated IP address (IPv4 to /24, IPv6 to /48) is used during the evaluation and discarded afterwards. There is no recognition beyond a single day and no usage profile is built. So that requests from data centres (automated retrieval by programs) are not counted as visits, the evaluation additionally looks up the name of the requesting address (reverse DNS). This sends a query to the internet’s domain name system; only the address itself is transmitted — not which page was requested. Neither the address nor the resolved name is stored.

5. Cookies and local storage

This website sets no cookies. No tracking or marketing cookies are used. In a single place a flag is written to your browser’s local storage: when you dismiss the short privacy notice at the bottom of the page, your browser remembers this so that the notice does not reappear on every visit. Only a content-free marker is stored — no personal data, no identifier that could recognise you, and nothing is transmitted to third parties. The entry stays in your browser and can be deleted there at any time. Legal basis: § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG (strictly necessary so that your choice is remembered).

6. OpenStreetMap map (click to load)

An interactive map can be shown on every page with an event list — the home page, the events page and the city, venue and organiser pages. The map software “Leaflet” is loaded locally from our server. The map tiles come from the OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF), St John's Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom (tile.openstreetmap.org). They are loaded only once you actively switch the map on by clicking — via the “Map” or “Both” view in the filter bar or the “Activate map” button on the map panel; a notice about the data transfer is shown right next to the switch. Merely opening a page sends no data to the OSMF. With the click, your IP address is transmitted to the OSMF so that the tiles can be delivered. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR (consent by clicking). 7. Contact and event submission

This website contains no contact or submission form. Contact, event submissions and error reports about events are handled exclusively by e-mail (via mailto: links that open your own e-mail program). If you write to us, we store your message in order to process it; no data is collected on the web server in the process. Submitted events are published only after editorial review. We keep the correspondence for as long as the request is being handled and we need it for queries about the event concerned; you can request deletion of your data by e-mail at any time. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering enquiries) or (b) for pre-contractual enquiries.

8. Event data and calendar export

The calendar contains publicly available details of dance events (title, date, venue, organiser, admission, link to the organiser’s page) that the organisers themselves have published. The only personal data involved are, at most, the names of organisers in their professional role (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — legitimate interest in an overview of the scene; the details are taken from the organisers’ own publications). On request we correct or remove entries: info@tango-germany.com.

For every event we offer a calendar file (.ics) for download. It is a static file on our server; downloading it collects no data about you beyond the server log files (section 3).

9. Links to organisers and to the sister portal

Events link to the websites of the respective organisers. The operators of those sites are responsible for the data processing there; when you click a link, your browser sends them only the address of the site you are coming from (referrer policy “strict-origin-when-cross-origin”, i.e. merely https://tango-germany.com).

tango-germany.com and tango-in-leipzig.de are two editions of the same event database and are run by the same controller. Events from Leipzig and Dresden appear in this calendar, while their detail pages are hosted on tango-in-leipzig.de. The privacy policy of tango-in-leipzig.de applies there; it corresponds to this one and additionally describes the newsletter offered on that site. There is no newsletter on tango-germany.com.

10. SSL encryption

The connection to this website is encrypted via TLS/SSL (recognisable by the padlock symbol and “https://”).

11. Your rights

With regard to your personal data you have the following rights against us: access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing (Art. 21). To exercise them, contact info@tango-germany.com.
